About our public stamp auctions

Sandafayre holds public stamp auctions every 3 months under the name 'Cheshire Stamp Auctions'.

These are public auctions of stamp collections, accumulations, single rarities and postal history. Alongside other collectables such as postcards and cigarette cards.

 The auctioneer(s) will sell this auction of stamps, collections, accumulations and stocks from our offices online. 

 

The auctioneer will execute commission bids on behalf of clients who have submitted bids before the start of the auction via www.sandafayare.com, www.stampauctionnetwork.com, email stamp@sandayre.com, telephone, fax. Please ensure that you have an account with us by registering online or contacting our offices.

 

PRE-SALE ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Lot 503 (Orkney & Shetland Is air covers) contains only 8 items NOT 9 as printed in the sale catalogue.

Lot 531. The description correct however should state SG 132 NOT SG 137.

Lot 557. Cat value £30,000 NOT £38,000.

 

VIEWING. Depending on government guidelines we hope lots will be available to inspect at our offices. PLEASE MAKE AN APPOINTMENT (along with a list of lot numbers before your visit) so we can take appropriate distancing precautions. Kindly bring your own mask and refreshments. 

 

LIVE ONLINE BIDDING / CHARGES. You can watch, listen and bid on three different online platforms available on www.sandafayre.com (fee 3.6% on the hammer price) www.the-saleroom.com (fee 5.94% on the hammer price). Please note that the 3.6% fee is what we are charged by the IT provider and we make no profit from offering this service on our website or www.stampauctionnetwork.com (no charges to the bidder!) The www.sandafayre.com site will take commission bids up to 09:30am on the morning of the sale (UK time), approximately 30 minutes before the auction (12.00 GMT) a live bidding platform becomes available when you click on a 'Cheshire Stamp Auctions' link, you need to have registered with us and be logged in to use this. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU REGISTER FOR THIS AUCTION ON WWW.THE-SALEROOM.COM BUT INSTEAD BID ON THE WWW.SANDAFAYRE.COM LIVE PLATFORM YOU WILL BE CHARGE THE HIGHER SALEROOM.COM FEE OF 5.94%!, NO CHARGES TO THE BIDDER WITH STAMPAUCTIONNETWORK.COM 

 

COMMISION 'BOOK' BIDDING / BENEFITS. If you place bids on lots on our website or send them to us by any other method before the start of the auction then our auctioneer will act on your behalf without charge, even if you decide to watch online later. We will do our best to ensure that you win as there is nothing worse than your favourite lot being sold to someone else at your top bid! In the case of an auctioneers 'book' bid being matched by an Internet bid then the auctioneer will try his best to give his 'commision' client precidence!

 

Bids may be submitted by any of the following methods:

  • Absentee (“Commission”) bids may be submitted by phone, email, fax, via Stamp Auction Network and www.Sandafayre.com until 09:30 AM GMT on the morning of the auction on 12th June 2021.
  • Participate in the auction live online via Sandafayre.com, thesaleroom.com or stampauctionnetwork.com. To use this service on Sandafayre.com simply register and create an account on our website before 09:30 AM GMT on the morning of the auction, the live bidding facility becomes active around 30 minutes before the auction begins.

 

We can post all lots and we combine multiple purchases to save on your costs, however we do have the individual shipping charges shown against every lot on www.sandafayre.com to whichever country you reside in.

 

IF GOVERNMENT GUIDENCE CHANGES AT ANY TIME WE MAY CHANGE OUR ARRANGEMENTS ACCORDINGLY. Any changes will be notified on this page.

    • Bid in person: Not this time! There will be no public room due to the current pandemic situation.

    • Telephone bidding due to pandemic  staffing restrictions this service is not currently available.

Auction venue & auction viewing

The auction will be held at our offices and can be watched online. There will be no public 'room' auction event.

Viewing of lots can be arranged by appointment at our offices the week prior to the auction from Monday 7th to Friday 11th June. PLEASE MAKE AN APPOINTMENT (along with a list of lot numbers in advance). Please also bring your own mask and refreshments.

Our last ‘public’ auction on 12th March included an outstanding offering of British single stamps including the rare 1935 2½d Prussian Blue error of colour never hinged mint with a 2021 certificate. 

Over 95% of the lots sold with terrific participation from clients around the world.
