AUSTRALIAN STATES - 1861 HAND PAINTED STAMPS unique miniature artworks created by a French 'Timbrophile' in 1861. A delightful group for NEW SOUTH WALES. Comprises four values (in different colours) with central Harbour scene in circle (Latin inscription around), reminiscent of 1850-51 issues; 1s orange (as 1854 issue); plus five 'essays' - different values with a central image of Queen Victoria (no resemblance to any issues).
