.GENERAL SECTION - STRASBOURG COVERS COLLECTION - WONDERFUL EUROPEAN UNION TOPIC. An amazing, unique collection of covers relating to Strasbourg from WWI to the late 1970s. Each item carefully selected, begins with the 1914-1918 period including Strasbourg censorship markings, regimental handstamps and others incl November 1918 manuscript S'bourg cancellation etc; post-war incl railway cancels, registered mail, 1922 Grand Prix cancelled, 1926 Stamp Expo, 1927 Philatelic Expo covers with labels, 1f+25c War Orphans etc, 'Ballon Monte' with ballon label, 1930s Air Shows with labels, postage due mail, much else selected for interesting frankings and/or markings, 1939 includes 'Visit Strasbourg' slogan cancel (May) to censored evacuation mail (October) to German censorship in 1940, German railway oval datestamps, mail to the Afrika Korps, even a cover with German adhesive cancelled on 23rd November 1944 (day of liberation!). Post-war with many beautiful covers including the development of European institutions. An outstanding collection in 3 large albums, condition chiefly very fine (circa 300 covers)

IN OUR MAIL BID SALES (Sandafayre, Hunters, Kwik-Bid and Express) You can bid directly from each lot, simply add your maximum bid into the “Bid” field and decide if you want to add a bid boost percentage in case you are being beaten and then click “Place Bid”. You can also save the lot onto the ‘Wishlist’ and bid from there. The Wishlist is personal to you and allows you to build a list of all the lots you like before you bid and you can then manage your bidding from the Wishlist. It’s very easy and popular.
Remember to let us know if you have any additional instructions (some bidders who have multiple bids in the same sale may wish to limit their overall total spend or perhaps give us an ‘either / or’ instruction when bidding on similar lots!) You can use the ‘Ask a question’ feature on one of your lots to do this, or send us an email or you can even call the office as we’d love to hear from you!
IN OUR PUBLIC AUCTION (Cheshire Stamp Auctions, once every 3 months) you can leave bids for our auctioneer to manage on your behalf (traditionally called “Commissions Bids”) by bidding from this website up to 30 minutes before the public auction begins (please remember, our buyers premium is 20% which is higher than in our Mail Bid Sales). You can also watch the auction and bid live online from our bidding platform which goes live 30 minutes before the auction but please make sure you are registered and logged in. After 30 minutes before the auction the option to make bids will be suspended and instead you will be enabled to view the live auction and bid if you wish. It doesn't take 5 minutes to get registered with us, just go to the "My Account" link at the top of the screen > "Sign in / Register" > "Create My Account". Unlike most auctions we do not charge any additional fee for online bidding prior to the live start of the auction.

Remember in a fast- moving public auction it will not be possible for us to manage your total spending limit or other complex instructions so we would recommend bidding live yourself or discussing instructions with your auction agent. We also do not offer a telephone bidding service in the auction room.
