Orange River Colony

Don Don is situated in the former Orange River Colony, which is now part of the present day Republic of South Africa. It is located on the banks of the Caledon River, and overlooks the majestic Lesotho mountain range.

The Post Office at Don Don (Ladybrand District) was opened in July 1903 as a Postal Agency. Their mail was cancelled by a large 'skeleton' circular date stamp, inscribed 'P.O.A. DON DON O.R.C.'

By December 1903, Don Don Post Office had become a sub-office. From this time onwards, mail was then cancelled by a different but similar, large circular date stamp. This was inscribed 'S.P.O. DON DON O.R.C.'
