Bosnia and Herzegovina

We are currently offering some wonderful lots from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Her first stamps were issued in 1879; just one year after Austria-Hungary assumed internal administration of the territory, although Turkey did retained control over matters of foreign relations.

This area is a philatelists dream. On the face of it there are only two or three basic design issues between 1879 and when Bosnia and Herzegovina was finally annexed to Austria-Hungary in 1908, however Specialists delight in the incredibly wide range of different perforation gauges which can be found on every stamp, also the many proofs, colour trials, errors plus postal history, cancellations and other beautiful and fascinating items.

In our current sale we have concentrated on the stamps issued between 1900 and 1918 with its many surcharges, pictorials, charity, postage due and definitive portraits including imperforate plate proofs, die proofs, imperf. between errors plus so much more. My particular favourites must include an intact & closely researched collection of the 1906 Landscape stamps, it’s an amazing piece of work arranged as it is by the many different perforation combinations and contains around 2000 stamps! Other great lots would include a specialised collection of the 1904 Postage Dues with mixed / compound perforations, or a collection of the 1914-16 Surcharges with a large amount of errors and varieties.

There is much more, I even notice collections of Railway Travelling Post Office cancellations and also revenue stamps. Many collectors enjoy focusing on what at first glance appears to be smaller stamp- issuing area such as this, however Bosnia and Herzegovina has been extensively researched giving us excellent catalogue listings which make the collectors task much more rewarding.

Please take a look at what we have on offer, once they’ve gone, they’ve gone!
