How to bid ...

You must be registered before you can bid! Below is an overview of the bidding process.

Step One - Add the lot you want to bid on to your Shopping Basket

After you've found a lot you want to bid on, click the "Add to Basket" button on the Lot Details screen. Immediately after clicking this button, a message will be displayed at the top of the screen informing you that the lot has been added to your basket.

Step Two - Move the lot(s) from your Shopping Basket to your Bid sheet

Go to your Shopping Basket (click the link on the top toolbar). Ensure the lot(s) you want to bid on is checked in the "Proceed to bid sheet" column, and then click the "Proceed to bid sheet" button at the bottom of the screen. The checked lot(s) will be removed from your shopping basket and placed on your bid sheet.

Please note, your shopping basket can be used to gather lots you're interested in, without any obligation to bid on them. However, to bid on a lot you must add it to your basket first, as it is only from here that you can put a lot on your bid sheet.

Step Three - Fill out your bid form and submit it to Sandafayre

Simply fill in the fields as required, and click the Submit to Sandafayre button at the bottom of the screen - there is also an option to Save for the Record, but clicking this button only saves the details - the bids are NOT submitted to Sandafayre and you have not bid!

You will know when your bid sheet has been submitted as you'll be shown the Receipt screen for the bid(s) you have just made - it is a good idea to print this off for your records. Sandafayre keeps your bid receipts on record for only a few months - click the Previous Bids link at the bottom of the Bids screen.

Below is a brief explanation of the fields you will see on the Bid sheet:

Bid (£)
Enter the amount you want to bid next to each lot. All bids must be made in £ sterling. Bids below 70% of estimate (the lower guide price) are not accepted by the system.

Boost
This is a percentage to enhance your basic bid by, which we'll add on if your bid is being beaten. This is completely optional - just leave the field set at None if you don't want to add a boost.

Limit Bids to
Use this field to limit your total spend to a certain amount. This feature is particularly useful if you have bid on several lots and really only want one or two, but want to increase your chances of making sure you get at least something from the auction. Please note however, that the figure you enter here is the amount we will limit your bids to, and this is different from your invoice total as postage costs and a 15% buyers premium will be added.

Notes to Auctioneer
If you have any special instructions or requirements enter them here.

Payment methods
If you want to pay with the credit card you registered on the site, select the Using my credit card on your file option.
If you want to pay with a different credit card, or if you don't have one registered on the site, select the Using a different credit card option and enter your card details.
If you don't want to pay by credit card, or if you want to wait until you receive your paper invoice, select the "On receipt of an invoice" option and we'll send you an invoice and hold your goods until payment is received. There are NO CHARGES for using a credit card. See About Billing for more information on payment methods.

Notification of success

As an Internet client, you will know very quickly if you have been successful in the auction. You will be e-mailed within 24 hours of the auction closing, with either your invoice details or a message that you have not been successful.
A few things to note...

You do not have to fill in any personal details at this point, as we take this from your Account Details.
