VENEZUELA - LA GUAIRA - 1864 TO 1876 STEAMSHIP LOCALS IMPORTANT COLLECTION. A beautiful collection of the "Robert Todd" local stamps for the Caracas - La Guaira - Puerto Cabello - St Thomas mail service with stamps both unused / mint and used with postal markings (no pen marks) includes the 1864 (July)-69 imperfs spectacular collection of 34 stamps chiefly from the plain figures printing with 1c black / rose (3 mint, 3 used), 2c black / green (4 mint), 3c black / yellow (7 mint, 3 used) & 4c black / blue (5 mint / 1 used), 1c with vertical dots, ½c with shading lines (2 mint) 1c (5 mint); then the 1864 (July) perf 13 ½r & 2r issues for use in Venezuela and at St Thomas including studies of the five transfer types with such things as all types of the 2r greens, a pair types II + III of the ½r bluish grey with part Waterlow imprint margin, plus much else (43 stamps incl used with postmarks); 1864 (Oct)-67 spectacular range of stone 1 ("PAQUETE") ½r rose (3 mint, 2 used) & 2r greens (1 mint, 1 used) & stones 2 - 4 ("PAOUETE") ½r reds (5 mint, 4 used) & 2c greens (3 mint, 4 used) identified by stone; 1867 for use at St Thomas ½r blues (1 mint, 2 scarce used) & 2r orange- yellows (2, used); 1868-70 perf 11½-12½ ½r green used, 2r reds (4, all used), perf 10 with very brown gum ½r green (9 mint incl block 4) & 2r reds (3 mint), finally a range of the 1867 reprints incl watermarked examples. A fascinating collection, condition occasionally mixed as is normal with these issues. Highly recommended (approx 150 stamps)
