Postal History
There was no issue of stamps for the island when it became a dependency so the stamps of Cook Islands were used until the first special issue in 1902. The island continued to use overprinted stamps until 1932 when the Cook Islands issues were reintroduced.

The northern Cook Islands began to issue their own stamps again in 1973 and since then Penrhyn has used issues inscribed 'Penrhyn Northern Cook Islands'. It still remains a New Zealand dependency.
