FIRST STAMPS ISSUED 1 March 1884. CURRENCY 1884, 1000 reis = 1 milreis. 1894, 78 avos = 1 rupee. 1913, 100 avos = 1 pataca. Portuguese trading post in 1557, leased from China until 1849 and later made a colony. Since 11 June 1951 a Portuguese overseas province. Used stamps of Hong Kong in 1863 - 29 February 1884.
