ISSUED 1890.
CURRENCY 1890, sterling. 1951, 100 cents = 1 West Indian
dollar.
On 25 February 1890 the governor of the Leeward Islands requested a uniform
issue and the stamps of Antigua, Dominica, Montserrat, Nevis, St Christopher
and Virgin Islands were superseded by a general issue for all. |

General issues were used
concurrently with specific issues, which began again in 1903, until 30 June
1956 (in Dominica only until 31 December 1939 when it was transferred to the
Windward Islands). General issues withdrawn and invalidated on 1 July
1956.
