CURRENCY 1951, 100 cents = 1 West Indian dollar. 1962, 100 cents
= U.S. dollar.
Successor to the
Virgin Islands (q.v.) Stamps with the word 'British' added to the title were
issued in 1968 to avoid confusion with the adjacent Virgin Islands of the
United States.
One subsequent issue reverted to
the former title but since 16 December 1968 all issues have been inscribed
'British'. The group remains a Dependent Territory of the United
Kingdom. |
