During this period up to 1892, lists of numerals issued to British PO's show many examples issued to overseas locations. Many of these never used British stamps and, although in the British series, they were essentially the colonial issue. Some of these numbers

were also issued in the United Kingdom so care must be taken to ensure that these stamps are truly 'used abroad'. Below are listed those numbers and locations where British stamps are known to have been used.
