FIRST STAMPS ISSUED 29 July 1971.
CURRENCY
1971, 100 paisa = 1 rupee.
1972, 100 paisa = 1 faka.
Once part of India, then of Pakistan, Bangladesh was proclaimed an independent state within the British Commonwealth on 16 December 1971.

Various Pakistan stamps were overprinted locally during the war that preceded independence.
